Freddie Hubbard

American Freddie Hubbard (1938–2008) was one of the most important jazz trumpeters, with a sound rooted in the bebop tradition of Clifford Brown and Lee Morgan. After his first steps with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and albums on Blue Note (Hub-Tones, Ready for Freddie), he emerged as a leading figure in the 1970s with the albums Red Clay, Straight Life, and First Light. He collaborated with top artists such as Coltrane, Hancock, and Dolphy and recorded and performed live until the mid-1990s.
